Breathe

The breath is our primary metric for survival. If breathing is interrupted or restricted, we are immediately and permanently stuck in survival-primary mode (fight or flight), until the breathing is restored. But if the restriction comes on slowly, subtly, below the level of awareness, we find ourselves in a low-grade, abiding state of stress.

We live with this level of anxiety as Normal!

As humans, we have the capacity to willfully alter our breathing. This superpower lets us interrupt our reactive programming. We can change our breathing pattern, we can literally change our perception of the environment and therefore our response to it.
